8. Ethos for RUA
São Paulo native Ethos, aka Claudio Ethos, made his contribution to the RUA mural collection with his Foeliedwarstraat piece. The Brazilian street artist frequently depicts struggling figures that seem to persevere despite their adverse plight, reflecting the city’s rough-and-tumble character in his works. Inspired by dreams, memories and experiences, Ethos prefers to dwell in the abstract rather than the realistic. Although branded as a surrealist, the artist insists that he does not subscribe to any particular style or philosophy, coaxing his wayward subject to spontaneously come to life.
