2. Fefe Talavera for RUA
Showcasing large-scale, urban and contemporary art in public spaces, Reflexo on Urban Art (RUA) invited Brazilian artist Fefe Talavera to grace the concrete façade of a Hoogte Kadijk building with her magnificent creatures. The painting portrays two native people wearing tribal masks, a reflection of the artist’s Mexican heritage and her fascination with Mayan and Aztec mythologies. Talavera’s so-called “monsters” are metaphors for subconscious human emotions such as anger, fear or desire.
