7. The London Police
With their quintessential Prinsengracht mural, The London Police have left their mark in the Amsterdam Jordaan, concealing an otherwise lifeless wall with their world-class street art. Coming to Amsterdam in 1998, The London Police made ends meet selling T-shirts and art, living comfortably off their artistic prowess ever since. Despite an order from the city council to cease and desist, they were reluctantly allowed to finish painting their kooky characters, leaving the background untouched. After gaining much support from local residents, the piece was considered to carry enough artistic and cultural significance to remain in place.
