Jackie Gleason - Lonesome Echo by Salvador Dali

Actor, comedian and musician Jackie Gleason may not be at the top of your playlist, but the artwork for his 1955 record Lonesome Echo is pretty rad and unexpected. The cover of the record was designed by the famous surrealist Salvador Dali, who created a dreamlike desert landscape featuring a butterfly, a stringed instrument, seashells, a small statue of a woman, and an unseen figure all casting long shadows in the afternoon sun. The back of the record sleeve credited Dali and had an explanation of the artwork, which said that it was meant to show the anguish of space and solitude, and that he used shadows in the picture as a way to symbolize echoes.
