The Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist by Shepard Fairey

The Smashing Pumpkins released their seventh studio album in 2007 entitled Zeitgeist with street artist Shepard Fairey’s imagery for the cover. The three-color illustration of the Statue of Liberty up to her knees in water provided commentary on the threats of global warming and the decrease of civil rights in America. The band’s frontman Billy Corgan described Fairey’s artwork as “on point” and said that he summed up complex themes in a simple way like all great artists are able to do.
