The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico by Andy Warhol
Being that The Velvet Underground was the house band at Andy Warhol’s studio The Factory, it made total sense that the artist would also be their manager and be commissioned to provide the album artwork on their 1967 debut The Velvet Underground & Nico. The album’s cover featured the iconic pop art banana design by Warhol. The banana was actually a sticker with the words “peel slowly and see,” which were printed next to it with an arrow. If you removed the sticker, it revealed a bright pink, peeled banana underneath.
