Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld from South Park
In the “Timmy 2000” episode of South Park, the loveable mentally and mobility impaired character Timmy was discovered by a local band of kids called the Lords of the Underworld. Timmy’s infectious energy as lead singer made the band an instant success, which sparked the jealousy of Phil Collins, who ended up being replaced by the band as the headliner of an upcoming music festival in town. Even though the ex-Genesis singer schemed to break up Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld and actually succeeded, he eventually was defeated and the band was reunited by the chanting crowd at the music festival. The band was so popular in real life that South Park’s creators released Timmy and the Lords of the Underground’s one and only single, “Livin a Lie,” and it was also featured as a bonus song in the video game Rock Band.
