6. Vince Lombardi

The Super Bowl is the premier event in football, and has played a huge part in American culture since the first game was played in 1966. Vince Lombardi, serving as the head coach for the Green Bay Packers at the time, not only won that first game, but also followed up with a second win the next year. Out of the many accomplishments in Lombardi’s career, though, the “Ice Bowl” game that led to their second Super Bowl win serves as a great recognition of his dedication to the sport. Fighting through negative 13-degree weather, frostbite and an icy field, Lombardi and his Packers defeated the Cowboys in a 21- 17 victory that’s still considered one of the greatest games played in NFL history. No wonder they named the official Super Bowl trophy after him.
