Ibeyi

Ibeyi is comprised of sisters Lisa-Kaïndé and Naomi Díaz, who are actually twins with a background that spans multiple countries. While the twins’ family is West African, their father, who is the famous percussionist Anga Díaz, grew up in Cuba, and the twins grew up in France. Ibeyi’s music is rooted in their multicultural upbringing, which has impacted everything from the instruments they use — such as the Peruvian cajón and the African Batá drum — to the languages in which they sing, including Yoruba, which is native to West Africa.
