When listening to Silk Rhodes, the 1970s immediately come to mind. The duo’s music is nostalgic for the best bits of Sly and the Family Stone, Al Green and the Delfonics, among others. Howver, you can’t really call the duo, comprised of Sasha Winn and Michael Collins, 1970s rock because, well, it’s 2014. The duo’s production traverses all decades and genres, encompassing soul, electronic, rock, and a bit of R&B. Overall, Winn and Collins present a simple and clean sound, including the vocals, representing a true homage to the ‘70s.
