7. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Batman has been saving Gotham City for a long time — since 1939 to be exact — so it’s obvious that he would get up there in age at some point. In Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns miniseries, Batman suits back up at the tender age of 55 years old to go up against crime, Gotham’s police squad, and the United States government. Depicting showdowns against the likes of Two-Face, The Joker and even Superman, The Dark Knight Returns served as a great alternate perspective to the aging life of the Caped Crusader and also inspiration for Tim Burton’s Batman movie and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
