2. Barry McGee
Renowned artist Barry McGee is also known by his many monikers and has been making work in the streets since the early ‘90s. His iconic characters, flattened spray cans, and objects that could be found around San Francisco later became part of his studio practice. His work continues to explore type and layered surfaces styled in a patterned palette. In recent years, he has created works for two major retrospective shows, one at The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and the other at the Berkeley Art Museum.
