Jennifer Maestre - “Seethe”

While some people use pencils to create art by drawing with them, Jennifer Maestre creates art out of them. The Massachusetts-based artist constructs her work by sharpening each pencil to the desired length, and then drilling a hole through up to 1,000 pencils to create her sculptures to use them like beads and sew them together in the pattern of her choosing. Some of her larger sculptures can take her up to two months to finish. She has a great ability to create different rounded shapes that complement the sharp points of the pencils, particularly in her work called “Seethe.”
