Redman - Muddy Waters
Rooted in funk music, Redman staked his claim to lyricism and comedy long before Ludacris built his name in a similar fashion. Muddy Waters is a fan favorite, the culmination of a reputation built from being ushered in by EPMD and Redman’s first two releases Whut? Thee Album and Dare Iz a Darkside. Never focused on making hit records, it was a perfectly timed arrival in the fall of 1996, being played all over the East Coast that winter. Although he hasn’t shared the popularity of Def Jam’s biggest stars, Redman’s niche audience has remained loyal to his harebrained routine.
