1. Theremin

You’ve heard this instrument before, maybe in a horror movie or maybe in a Devo song. Invented by Russian scientist, Leon Theremin in 1928, the theremin has a spooky, modulating sound that’s always been a loved niche instrument, but due to it’s bizarre sound and way of playing it, it has never really broke into the mainstream. Played with electromagnetics conducted by both hands’ proximity to two metal rods, this creepy warble leaves a strong, unique impression.
