7. An Audio Interface
In order to record anything from the microphone, you’re going to need an audio interface. In basic terms, this interface is a box that will convert sound from the mic into a digital signal that your computer and DAW software can read. Most will also send audio out, which you can then send to your headphones or monitors. The Avid M-Box is a classic beginner’s product, and often comes bundled with a lite version of the DAW Pro-Tools. The Mackie Onyx Blackjack is another great and affordable alternative.
