The X-Files

Defining the 1990s, “The X-Files” wasn’t just a series—it was a phenomenon. Starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI Agents Mulder and Scully, the show followed their investigations into unsolved paranormal cases. The show became a popular cultural icon and blew the two leads into the stratosphere, making Mulder and Scully household names. Although the nine-season run of the show was constantly changing in regards to episode style and Scully taking over as the lead towards the end, “The X-Files” managed to spawn a spin-off show and two feature films after it ended.
