Paradise Alley

Following the success of Rocky, Universal Pictures practically gave Sylvester Stallone full creative power to write and direct his own film. In 1978, he did just that with Paradise Alley, a film that follows three Italian-American brothers, one of whom is played by Stallone himself, who attempt to use pro wrestling as their ticket out of New York City’s gritty Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. Despite all the negative reviews, it wasn’t a bad effort by Stallone given that it was his directorial debut and all. If this movie came out today, it would be a hit.
