14. Blink 182 - Cheshire Cat
Initially released under the name Blink, but forced to add the “182” after a lawsuit by an Irish band that already claimed the moniker, Cheshire Cat didn’t immediately result in arena tours and big album sales. Put out on the independent label Cargo and recorded quickly, what the album did provide was an opportunity for punk fans outside of California to hear the band’s mix of hooks and humor. Steady touring and persistence paid off, as the album eventually sold well for an indie release and led to a deal with MCA Records.
