2015 Dew Tour Schedule Announced!
Dew Tour is back, for the 11th year of the tournament and will be rolling through two of the largest cities in North America. The new Dew Tour season begins this June in Chicago after a five-year hiatus. The return to Chicago is also a cause for celebration because it marks the summer opening of the city’s new Grant Park Skate Plaza. The tour begins June 20-21, and will start with the BMX and skate street and streetstyle competitions. The second day of the Dew Tour in Chicago also falls on Go Skate Day. To celebrate, Dew Tour will also be hosting special activities for Chi-town locals.
In August, Dew Tour will travel to downtown Los Angeles from August 14-16. Here action sports fans will get a lot more than just competitions. Skateboarding’s roots run deep in LA, and to honor that Dew Tour will be creating a skateboard cultural ecosystem, inclusive of art, fashion, music, movie premieres, and more. As another first for the tournament everything will be going down at its central hub, the Ace Hotel. There Dew Tour will have everything from theaters, concert venues, and outdoor competition courses. The competitions folks can look forward to include skateboard street, skateboard streetstyle, and some more competitions that will be revealed at a later date.
Here’s what Chris Stiepock, General Manager of the Dew Tour had to say,
Los Angeles is the heart of the skateboard industry, and the Dew Tour has long celebrated the diverse culture that has grown from this hub. We’re shaking things up and tapping into the resources the area provides, from adding movie premieres to incorporating fashion, art and music on a grander scale. We’re ready to bring Dew Tour home to skate’s roots. This year NBC and the Dew Tour are very excited about holding events in two of the three largest cities in America.
Dew Tour is another avenue in which Mountain Dew is looking to innovate and push the progression of action sports. Greg Lyons, Vice President of Brand Marketing at Mountain Dew had this to say about what this year’s tour really stands for,
Mountain Dew is devoted to driving progression within action sports, and Dew Tour 2015 signals new, groundbreaking partnerships and enhanced consumer experiences through film, music and art that will help drive this continued commitment. We strive to bring the culture of skateboarding to life through creativity and community, and both Chicago and Los Angeles provide the perfect backdrop to celebrate skateboarding through the deep heritage and lifestyle surrounding the sport.
The final stop of Dew Tour is Breckenridge, Colorado. This will be the eighth year in a row that the tour has been in Breckenridge and will include freeski and snowboarding events. Mark your calendars, because from December 10-13, Breckenridge Ski Resort will be offering the support of the top international men and women’s snowboard and freeski athletes competing in the superpipe and slopestyle events. Dew Tour will also be hitting downtown Breckenridge for the streetstyle competitions, music, and much more.
