One of the signatures moves for every The Simpsons episode is the couch gag. Right at the end of the opening credits, you can expect to see some different — and often surprising — variation of the entire family planting onto the couch to watch television. A memorable example was when they landed on one of the most famous couches in the world — David Letterman’s. This was during the show’s fifth season, and ironically aired during Letterman’s opening season of The Late Show. Overall, it made for an unexpected, yet comedic opening scene that kept up with the ongoing tradition of the show.
