7. Connecticut: The Hive
Starting in 2013 in a tiny 300-square-foot space, Hive has tripled in size and now has a basement with a mini ramp. Owner Charlie King keeps it 100% community focused in the shop, using it as an event space for art shows and music performances. King's welcoming attitude makes The Hive a home away from home for local skaters who need to escape the harsh New England weather or just want to watch the latest skate video and shoot the breeze with the guys at the shop.
Hive also grows skateboarding in New London, CT, by sponsoring local skaters and offering skate lessons.
