9. Florida: Skate Park of Tampa
Without SPoT, no one in the skate world would care about Tampa, but today the industry goes there every year, twice a year, for Tampa Am and Tampa Pro.
SPoT began in 1993 and almost singlehandedly kept vert skating alive in the ’90s. Not only did the park house a ramp, it housed many of the skaters pushing vert at the time. SPoT also goes far beyond just their two main events: They host local contests throughout the year, as well as demos and video premieres. They created Boards For Bros, a charitable organization that collects, refurbishes, and redistributes skateboards to kids who can’t afford them. For skaters, no trip to Florida is complete without a stop at SPoT.
