3. Air Jordan 1
If you’ve seen Powell-Peralta’s The Search for Animal Chin, you may have noticed that even back in 1987, skaters like Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, and Lance Mountain were rocking Air Jordan 1s. The rationale behind that footwear choice was simple. While shoes like Converse and Vans skated well, they weren’t nearly as supportive as MJ’s first signature model. They also didn’t last as long as the leather high-top. Skating in pristine Jordans may induce a heart attack in your average sneakerhead today, but for a minute it was the norm. As a tribute to that era, Nike SB recently released a Lance Mountain Air Jordan 1 that looked like it had been painted and skated.
