Atlantic City Boardwalk - Atlantic City, NJ

Atlantic City’s boardwalk is the longest in the world at 5.5 miles, and the oldest in the United States. It was originally built in 1870 to reduce sand tracked in from the beach in hotel lobbies, and if you’re interested in getting a taste of how things used to be, you can get pushed along the boardwalk in a two-person rolling wicker chair, an activity that was big back in the late 19th century, and grab some saltwater taffy from James Candy Company that uses recipes dating back to the early 1900s. Once you’re done with the old-timey activities, hit up the numerous shops, arcades and great restaurants that live among the bright casinos and large hotels.
