Duck Hunt – Two-Player Mode

There’s a good chance that anyone who owned an original Nintendo Entertainment System tried their hand at Duck Hunt, if for no other reason than the chance to use the bundled lightgun instead of the standard controller. But tell a veteran gamer that Duck Hunt let a second player control the flying birds, and you’re likely to see jaws drop. The two-player mode was actually described in the game’s manual—apparently kids weren’t big on reading back then either—and simply required the second player to plug in a controller. It may not have been intended to be a secret, but it proved to be one of the best kept.
