11. Sega Dreamcast 1999

Why is it that Sega doesn’t make consoles anymore? In short, after the debacle of the Sega Saturn, which hit shelves months earlier than planned as a surprise both to retailers and those designing launch games, Sega was intent on re-establishing dominance. As the first console to include a modem for online play and stunning graphics for the time, the Dreamcast should have been a huge success, and for the first few months, it was. But the damage of the Saturn ran deep, and the next console released killed any chances for long-term sales.
