Masakazu Shirane and Saya Miyazaki - “Wink Space”
For the Kobe Biennale in 2013, artists were challenged to create installations within 40-foot long mobile shipping containers. Masakazu Shirane and Saya Miyazaki accepted this challenge, and created a giant kaleidoscope within their shipping container’s space. Consisting of 1,100 pieces of triangular mirror that were then connected using zippers, “Wink Space” created a kaleidoscope effect that changed as the viewer moved within the container. Their innovative installation ended up winning the A’Design Award, the world's largest design competition for the best designs, design concepts, products, and services.
