Danny Davis’s New Burton GMP Capsule Collection Is More Environmentally Friendly Than Ever
Burton is getting ready for the upcoming fall and winter seasons with a new Burton GMP capsule designed by Mountain Dew and Dew Team Member Danny Davis that'll protect you from the elements but also help you to do your part in protecting your environment.
"The design process that goes into the collaboration between Burton, Mtn Dew, and myself is a lot about color and function," says Davis. "For this year's gear, I wanted some colors that would pop for photos in the backcountry but also have earth tone colors so that the jacket and pants weren't too loud. I want to be able to wear the jacket on the street as well. We also created a bib pant, because I became very fond of the bib's function out in the backcountry. Being able to unzip my jacket or take the jacket off while building jumps or hiking and still keeping the layers close to my body dry is very important. This kit is an all around great kit. Good style, with great function.”
Here's what Ali Kenney, Burton's Director of Global Sustainability, had to say about the process: “We’re excited to work with Mtn Dew on this project because caring about our playground (and snow) is a priority at Burton. Using recycled bottles reduces the environmental impact of our product dramatically – energy and water use alone are typically reduced over 50% by using recycled fibers. It also helps us keep plastic out of landfills and our oceans; that’s a win/win for everyone.”
The new collection comes in a variety of colorways and should be hitting shelves soon.
