I rang in 2015 in a small village in Tanzania. After spending over a year exploring and photographing the urban jungle that is Toronto, I was stuck in a completely opposite scenario. No skyscrapers, no rooftops. I had a lot of people that I knew would be expecting some crazy photos from Tanzania when I got back, but I was a bit nervous because this was out of my comfort zone.
Eventually I just decided to wing it and shoot whatever I saw. I began interacting with people in the village, called Kisangara—which is the same village my dad grew up in, more and more—and that's how I was able to get this shot.
I love the innocence of the children out there. Though they don't have much, you could never tell. The fun they have and the energy they display is inspiring.
