Free Water is the Creative Collective Behind the New New Orleans: Digging Through the Greats
Each week, Green Label invites a visionary photographer, filmmaker, designer or artist to dig through their folios and tell the story of their favorite works. This is: Marty of Free Water.
Free Water started in New Orleans in January of 2015. Frankie Watts and myself always talked about working together in some capacity, we just never knew what it was that we would do. I had been working at a men’s clothing store, Re:fresh, for a while. When Frankie started working at Re:fresh, after being affiliated for so long as a videographer, we decided to throw a party and call it “Free Water.”
We wanted to have a party on Mardi Gras day to do something for the clientele at Re:fresh because they always asked about having something to do on that day. We wanted to take photos and film people at the party just to give them something crazy to wake up to the next day.
We were never able to have the party because of security reasons, but we still just kept the name and fused our talents together. I have always done photography and Frankie has always been a great videographer. So we wanted to bring those worlds together and document things with the name Free Water.Click to start the list
