Digging Through the Greats: Gunner Stahl
Each week, Green Label invites a visionary photographer, filmmaker, designer or artist to dig through their folios and tell the story of their favorite works. This is: Gunner Stahl.
When I turned 18 I got a lot of money that I didn’t know what to do with, and my friend was telling me about his really nice camera that he was trying to sell, while we were at a party. Since I had all this money I was like, “Here you go,” and bought the camera from him. It all started from there.
I met Curtis [from Two-9] in 2009, which was before I did photography or anything. We were just friends, and he introduced me to everyone else in Two-9, like Ceej and Fani. As they started taking rapping seriously, I started taking photography seriously, so it went together perfectly. Might as well work with my friends, right?
One really cool, defining moment for me was this past weekend, when I got a text from Mike WiLL saying that he and Miley were talking about me and my photos. It’s pretty surreal.
My number-one motto is to never sell yourself short. If you feel like you’re worth something, get everything you’re worth out of every situation.
To aspiring photographers, I’d say to continue to be yourself and be creative. Always stay two steps ahead of everyone around you and try to create your own path.Click to start the list
