1. Elton John and John Lennon Perform Together - 1974
The way the story goes, Elton John made a cool proposition to Lennon: if their joint single, "Whatever Gets You Thru the Night,” made it to the top of the Billboard charts, Lennon would have to join him on stage to perform the song. Lennon agreed, thinking it wouldn’t happen since he hadn’t yet topped the charts himself. Of course, the music gods did their work and the song made its way to number one. What really made this performance special, though, was it led to Lennon reuniting with his estranged soulmate, Yoko Ono, after she sat in the audience as he performed “I Saw Her Standing There” for the first time. That’s enough proof for you that music has serious healing power.
