iLOVEMAKONNEN’s Dropping “Drink More Water 5” This Month and Heading on Tour
iLOVEMAKONNEN’s whole life is going up quick.
After blessing us plebeians with the flawless song “Tuesday,” along with a bunch of other first-class tracks that people are just getting hip to (“Swerve” and “Maneuvering” are just as good as “Tuesday,” if not better), the Atlanta rapper was signed by Drake’s label, OVO Sound, and was nominated for a Grammy. Although he didn’t get a chance to give what would’ve been the most epic acceptance speech ever, it’s clear how far he’s come in such a short time. If he keeps making heat at this rate he’ll be one of the top rappers in the game soon.
When you’re shooting one hundred percent from the field like he is, it’s easy to stop releasing music. Why drop something that may flop when you already have a bunch of bangers out there?
And yet. iLOVEMAKONNEN recently announced that he’ll be releasing his new mixtape, Drink More Water 5, on March 31. He hasn’t released the tracklist yet or mentioned anyone who may be on the mixtape, but I expect some major players will be involved (*crosses fingers for a Drake feature*). He’s also planning on releasing his debut album this year on OVO Sound. It’s looking like 2015 may be an even crazier year for the young rapper than 2014 was, if that’s even possible.
Along with the mixtape announcement, iLOVEMAKONNEN is heading out on his first headlining tour with fellow Atlanta artists, and frequent collaborators, Key! and Sonny Digital. The Loudest of The Loud Tour begins April 28 in New York City and runs until mid May.
