Dennis Oppenheim - “Safety Cones”

In 2007, Dennis Oppenheim created five giant orange cones to be placed in Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park the following year. Each cone was constructed with fiberglass, towered at 18 feet tall, and spanned a width of nine feet. By using a symbol of caution, his giant cone sculptures, strategically placed throughout the park, convey the idea that the entire space is an area where care should be taken, encouraging visitors to have more awareness of the space around them.
