Florentijn Hofman - “Big Yellow Rabbit”
You may already be familiar with Florentijn Hofman’s recent oversized art installations like his “Rubber Duck” or “Hippopothames” pieces. However, what’s really interesting about the Dutch artist is not his use of outrageous size, but the materials with which he creates his enormous, humorous sculptures. For one of our favorites from his impressive body of work , “Big Yellow Rabbit,” he used thousands of yellow Swedish shingles to construct what looked like a child’s stuffed animal, and then leaned the 42-foot-high sculpture on the statue of Engelbrekt in the city of Örebro, Sweden. The temporary exhibit was part of the OpenArt biennale, an international outdoor exhibition of contemporary art.
