Nas Joins Google and Microsoft for Scholarships In Tech
Nas is taking a quick break from celebrating the 20th anniversary of Illmatic — his first and most iconic album — to help out the future innovators in tech. Together with Hirepurpose, Google, and Microsoft, the hip-hop pioneer is working with NYC private technical school General Assembly to create a new fund designed to increase minority participation in the tech world. Each side of the deal is set to split up the funding: Nas and his Queensbridge Venture Partners to fund scholarships aimed at African-Americans and Latinos, Google will help fund women’s scholarships, and Microsoft and Hirepurpose will fund scholarships for veterans.
Illmatic XX is in stores and on iTunes now.
