3. The Waterboy - $161,491,646
When this movie came out, everyone stopped saying water and started saying “high quality H2O.” That lasted for months, as this movie played in theaters for 23 weeks. Adjusted for inflation, this is Adam Sandler’s highest-grossing movie ever, and it came near the end of a string of classic Sandler movies — Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer and Big Daddy — before his first big flop, Little Nicky, and long before his recent string of dreck. When The Waterboy came out, an Adam Sandler movie meant a guaranteed laugh fest, and he delivered.
