Not all rappers are created equal. That’s why doing these rankings is so complicated. Is it fair that an artist could drop an entire album and then get overshadowed by one video? Maybe, but there’s no such thing as fair in hip-hop. Eminem’s more than earned the world’s attention, and so when he not only makes a rare video appearance on a song like “Detroit vs. Everybody,” but also uses that song to rep his city to the fullest, that’s a big deal. Like a very big deal. Like enough to put him above Jay Z this month (more on him next).
