Troy Neiman - “Javelina”
Troy Neiman welds scraps from bicycles together to make amazing sculptures, and you almost wouldn’t recognize that they are made of bike parts. He’s created several different pieces of art by connecting flattened bike rims, derailleurs and gears. For his sculpture “Javelina,” he welded together a ton of bicycle spokes to create a metal version of what is basically a furry pig that can be found in the Southwest. Last year, he donated the sculpture to be auctioned off to support a non-profit called BICAS, which is Tucson’s bicycle recycling and education center, and where Neiman also works.
