Rolling Deep with Rappers & IG Models: Nesrin Danan, Digging Through the Greats
Each week, Green Label invites a visionary photographer, filmmaker, designer or artist to dig through their folios and tell the story of their favorite works. This is: Nesrin Danan.
In my freshman year of high school, I took a film photo class, which is all my school offered. I learned everything about dark rooms, composition rules, and started developing my own photos. Then I took my camera to a Macklemore concert and took some photos, and people noticed me from that. That’s when I started working with D-WHY, and he basically introduced me to everyone I work with now, like Hoodie Allen, G-Eazy, and Mod Sun.
Since I started doing photography when I was pretty young, people were like, “Oh, you’re 17 and you’re a girl, we don’t really care.” But then they saw that I was actually serious about it.
When I was younger, I wasn’t allowed to go to a lot of concerts, since I lived in a small town far away from the nearest city, Portland. I wanted my photography to bring people into the moment, and make people feel like they were there. I try to do artist portraits in a way that captures the artist’s personality and aura.Click to start the list
