Russell Westbrook and Barneys New York Drop New Spring 2015 Collection
Fashion gawd and our Most Memorable player, Russell Westbrook is known to be a force on the court, but it appears he’s just as tenacious when it comes to clothing design.
He has teamed up with Barneys and a handful of notable brands to produce the Spring 2015 Russell Westbrook XO Barneys New York collection. Now being offered by the luxury department store are his takes on everything from athletic apparel, denim tops and bottoms, accessories, jumpsuits, and more.
The list of collaborative brands includes Marcelo Burlon, County of Milan, Naked & Famous, Golden Bear, and of course Jordan Brand.
While the first Russell Westbrook XO collection took major influence from Jordan Brand, utilizing company design elements and coinciding with corresponding sneaker and apparel releases, this one highlights Westbrook doing his best Lagerfeld.
The County of Milan capsule collection includes tanks, long- and short-sleeved tees, and “drop-rise” pants. Adding a unique twist, it also features “RW” and “RW/1988” lettering coupled with Marcelo Burlon’s signature graphics and insignias.
With Naked & Famous Russell has created a range of denim goods that won’t have you scoffing at throwing on a “Canadian tuxedo.” Their collaboration is comprised of denim shorts, a “Mechanics Jumpsuit,” joggers, and a short-sleeved denim shirt that’s perfect for all the tartan lovers out there.
It wouldn’t be a Westbrook collection without his innovative takes on Jordan Brand’s staple pieces, though. In true Russ West fashion, he flips pieces like basketball shorts, sweat suits, and compression tights by adding some high-fashion touches. Because, #WhyNot?
These pieces traditionally reserved for the gym or court now come in graphic prints that evoke the Jordan Brand theme of flight. Cockpit and cloud prints adorn tees, tanks, and compression tights. Westbrook is known for his daring style, but he also offers some more muted and monochromatic pieces for those that like to keep it simple.
The new collection is available at Barneys New York and is also available online.
