Sega Set to Release Game Console-Inspired Sneakers
Growing up you either had a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis gaming console in your household. If your parents had some extra dough, you might have had both. For me, Sega was it. Games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe were the infatuation of almost every kid growing up in the early to mid-'90s. During our pre-teens, when 3D became the standard, Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi took us for even crazier rides, with more interactive gameplay. In 2001, the gaming company restructured as a third party developer and just focused on software.
Now, Sega has teamed up with Japanese game and anime licensed sneaker manufacturer Annipon to launch a sneaker collection in October. The capsule collection pays homage to the Sega Genesis (known as the Mega Drive in Japan and Australia), Sega Saturn, and Sega Dreamcast. Even the boxes which the sneakers come in are reminiscent of the packaging of the individual gaming console.
