The “Street Fighter II” Soundtrack Is Coming Out on Vinyl and CD

Japanese-based music label Brave Wave is dedicated to exploring the interplay between video games, music, and nostalgia. So it should come as no surprise that the label is issuing a limited edition vinyl of the legendary Street Fighter II score.

The limited edition release includes remasters of both CPS-1 and CPS-2 versions of the arcade game, taken straight from the arcade board. Even the original composer of Street Fighter II’s score, Yoko Shimomura, has given the release his blessing as well as contributed to the liner notes.

This vinyl release is the first installment of Brave Wave’s Generation Series, one that works with experts and original composers to re-release the soundtracks of iconic video games. Unfortunately we don’t know what other games are involved, but Street Fighter II is definitely a great way to get the series rolling.

As of now, there’s no release date for the Street Fighter II vinyl. However, we do know that each double vinyl edition will come on “translucent colored vinyl, with art prints sourced from the Capcom archive.” Also, in case you don’t have a record player, Brave Wave is issuing a CD version as well.
