Jay Z - “Dead Presidents”
Where New York felt safe being carried by the likes of the Wu-Tang Clan and Nas, Jay Z’s grand arrival signaled hope for a new rap sensation. Sneaking his way in, “Dead Presidents” took slick talk and confidence to unforeseen levels. Far from a flash in the pan, Jay’s debut, Reasonable Doubt, paved the way for perhaps hip-hop’s greatest career run with him still relevant 18 years later. Although newer fans aren’t familiar with this phase of his career, true followers respect his purest days of lyricism.
