Half-Life’s Console Mode
Back in the ‘90s, every major PC game was programmed with tons of cheats that scrambled with its source code. Valve had no issues letting players enable the endless number of tricks for the first-person shooter via Console Mode. All that was required was right-clicking the Half-Life desktop shortcut, going into the Target tab located in Properties, and putting “-console” at the end of the X:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe line. From there, we went mode crazy by exploiting the gameplay mechanics and spawning countless marines to see how much the title could handle before crashing.
