Mortal Kombat Sega Genesis Blood Code
The ratings board crucified Midway for programming a cheat that produced blood in the first Mortal Kombat game on Sega’s 16-bit console. Truthfully, the bigger travesty was the developer’s decision to leave it out of both the standalone Genesis and SNES releases. So in order for us to take in the gory violence present on the Arcade version, we activated the cheat on the “Code of Honor” screen and executed every fatality for kicks. Nintendo fanboys had no choice but to hate.
