The Green Label Rap Power Rankings, June 2015

Rappers come, rappers go. It is the way of the world and the rap game. Lil B was number one last month because he deserved to be, with NBA teams and massive media attention—the Based God was everywhere.

But as we predicted, his reign was short-lived.

As these Rankings have gone by, they've been a great way to separate the truly powerful from the momentarily powerful. Kanye, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been absolute mainstays, rising or falling a few spots each month but never disappearing. While A$AP Rocky on the whole has a cement-strong place in the game, last month found him oddly quiet—even silent—after the release of his ALLA album, prompting his tumble from the rankings.

Halfway through the year it looks like the most powerful rapper battle is going to go down between Kendrick and Drake, two young rappers who are young, hungry and driven enough to put in work day after day, week after week, month after month.

But there's still plenty of time for those overall Rankings to shake out differently. For example, if Kanye drops the album we're hoping for later this year, he could own 2015.
