If you thought Future's rise was unlikely, just check out Malcolm James McCormick. A few years ago, Mac Miller was viewed as essentially a teen idol, a cute white kid from the suburbs who could rap. There weren't a lot of people in the rap community taking him seriously as an emcee.
But over the last few years, he's been serious about establishing himself as an equally serious artist. This month he released his GO:OD AM album and it was... outstanding. Miller has always been commercially successful, but even the stodgiest hip-hop heads who heard GO:OD AM were forced to admit that Mac is a serious, and seriously dope, rapper.
