Eightball & MJG – On the Outside Looking in
A key part of Tony Draper’s Suave House regime, Eightball & MJG were the pride of Memphis. Heavily rooted in funk, the soulful musicality surrounding their street tales was comparable to Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. With On the Outside Looking in, the duo stood against the idea of trading in their values for greater recognition. Popular samples, including Rick James and Marvin Gaye, helped Eightball & MJG appeal to anyone otherwise turned off by their edgy material.
